More pictures of a Baja Building Project

These are photos as the construction is taking place in Elias Callais Baja Sur Mexico. This project is about 35 north of Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific side.
The crew is working hard to make this vacation home a special place.

This project is a series of buildings. There is the main house, the sleeping quarters, the mechanical building for the solar etc. the garage for the "toys" and an outdoor kitchen. A beautiful pool has just been finished too. l I am awaiting the pictures and will post when I get them.

To build your home in southern Baja, contact me. Oregon phone 503-999-3992 or email suzannemariesinteriors@gmail.com. Jason, my son, has a great crew to build what ever you can design. He is a master wood worker & bi-lingual.  He has a very modern shop & the best crew around. I am available to help with all the interior design. My own Casa is going to be beginning very soon. Waiting on final plans.

Can also help locate lots on beach or inland for magnificent views.

More building on the Baja MX

Clients from Washington had my son  Jason build them their vacation home  and it is just getting finished. I helped them with their colors. They found us via this blog. I took a trip to MX to see the home during construction. We were able to select the colors by email and a meeting in my Salem OR office.  They described a beautiful sunset they had seen while on the beach and said they would like to use those colors. While I was in MX I went to that beach where their new home was being constructed. Using paint fan decks I selected colors that I thought fit their sunset. Back in the states I ordered large paint samples for their  approval.  The clients said I got it right. Yahoo. The paint store in Todos Santos matched our US paint chips  and another beautiful Mexican casa is now almost complete. More pictures coming soon.

If you want to build on the southern Baja from Todos  Santos to Cabo Sam Lucas please contact me via email. I would be happy to talk to you about your project.

Mexican Architecture

As you may know, I love Mexican architecture.  I plan to have a home in MX so I have been collecting great ideas.  I thought I would share a few.

This is the gate to my lot in Baja.  I can't wait to use some of my ideas for my Abuela casa.

This is call a Kiva.  It is just the right size for the few cool nights that a little extra heat could be used.  And how cute it is!  I like the style of the one below too. Would make a nice sitting area.

Isn't this a fabulous arched courtyard
gate.It is tile mosaic and is at the Jill Logan Galerira in Todos Santos Mexico. She has really great art there too.

I am not wild about the fountain but I really like the colorful tile floor.

I love the outdoor stairway to the roof.  I would like to have a roof top art studio.

I really like the out side detail of the lattilla awning and the wood vegas.

I like the ceiling detail with the vegas and the wood insets (I forgot what they are called).  If you know let me know too.

I really like the color of this exterior.

  Isn't this beautiful.
Ceiling detail in kitchen of home my son is currently building. The top of the brick dome has little windows that let it light. (not seen in photo)
 Exterior wall surrounding whole home.
Outdoor pizza oven.  Cooks great chicken too.!
Interior of pallapa roof system in home my son is currently building.  Water tight.
Project under construction still.  Note all the molding detail around the round window & arch entry.  Curved bar is waiting for a wood counter & all the cabs.

Do you need a builder in the Baja?

My son lives in Pescadaro (8 miles south of Todos Santos and about 45 min north of Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific side.) He is a master craftsman and builds everything from Cabs to fine furniture. He builds homes in MX and will be building mine for me when I get to do it.  If you need a home built or cabinets or custom finish work you can contact me & I will get you connected with him and his crew..  He has a full shop and is able to take on most any size job.

Todos Santos Mexico for Art & Relaxation

Art in Todos Santos Mexico

I am leaving this week to go to Pescadaro and Todos Santos MX (north of Cabo San Lucas.)  I will be visiting my son & family who have built their personal home in Pescadaro just south of Todos Santos.  I blogged earlier in the year and posted pictures of the home in progress.  I am so anxious to see the finished project. My son has built it himself over a 4 year period. Lots of beautful hand work has gone into it.  I will be posting photos later this month when I get back.  The plan is to continue building some homes in the area so if you know anyone thinking about moving to Mexico be sure to give me a buzz. We are currently locating lots that we can build some nice "retirement" homes on. Between my son, my husband Don who is a  home builder and designer and myself to do interior design I think we can create some lovely vacation or retirement homes for a reasonable price.

Todos Santos is such a cute little town. I will be going to some galleries in Todos Santos where there is a nice art community.  I also plan to paint with my grandaughter while I am there.  I am a very new painter learning to paint in acrylics.  They have beautiful sunsets and; lots of ocean to see from the veranda so hoping to create something beautiful.

More people are realizing what a nice area it is, especially since Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo have become so crowded.  Now that the 4 lane hwy between Cabo & LaPaz in going through there is much easier access through the area.  I hope it won't grow too fast.  Already the Cerritos surfing beach that housed only an outside banos a couple of years ago has a bar, condos, a private high end housing development started & plans for lots more.  We have to keep going further away to find a private beach. I guess I better get my piece of land while I can still afford it. I like this one above.
